چکیده

This paper shows how uncertainty aversion can resolve ties in extensive games of perfect information, and thereby re"ne subgame-perfection in such games. This is done by assuming that (a) players are rational with multi-prior expected utility functions of Gilboa and Schmeidler (1989), (Journal of Economic Theory 48, 221}237); and (b) a player's plan of the game corresponds to set-valued acts at each of his decision nodes, the so-called strategy system, in contrast to single-valued act as speci"ed in the traditional notion of strategy pro"le. The e!ects of pre-communication channels among players are studied, and are re#ected in each of the three proposed solutions. Finally, existence of equilibria are established for each proposed solution concept as well as comparisons with other existing solutions. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights

TR-2009011: Knowledge-Based Rational Decisions

We outline a mathematical model of rational decision-making based on standard game-theoretical assumptions: 1) rationality yields a payoff maximization given the player’s knowledge; 2) the standard logic of knowledge for Game Theory is the modal logic S5. Within this model, each game has a solution and rational players know which moves to make at each node. We demonstrate that uncertainty in ga...

Effect of Cognitive Biases on Rationality of Economic Decision Making under Risk among Students of Shahid Beheshti University

The purpose of this study is to determine the quality of individual economic decision making under risk and uncertainty. The research method is a quasi-experiment with single group and a post-test. The total population of the students of Shahid Beheshti University in 97 was 8.700 and due to non-normal distribution, we should use non-parametric Wilcoxon test, with sample of 180. The tool used to...

Rationality and equilibrium in perfect-information games

In generic perfect-information games the unique Subgame-Perfect Equilibrium (SPE) outcome is identical to the one predicted by several rationalizability notions, like Extensive-Form Rationalizability (EFR), the Backward Dominance Procedure (BDP), and Extensive-Form Rationalizability of the Agent form (AEFR). We show that, in contrast, within the general class of perfect information games all th...

Reinforcement Learning in Perfect-Information Games∗

This paper studies action-based reinforcement learning in finite perfectioninformation games. Restrictions on the valuation updating rule that guarantee that the play eventually converges to a subgame-perfect Nash equilibrium (SPNE) are identified. These conditions are mild enough to contain interesting and plausible learning behavior. We provide two examples of such updating rule that suggest ...
